2 months old - Christmas pictures

These pictures were not as easy to take as they might look. Note the hands on the left side of the frame of a couple of them. Miles does not like wearing hats - that Santa hat had him fussing from the start, so we would try to put it on quickly, then yank the pacifier out of his mouth and snap!
His other thing was wanting to turn his head away from the camera. The photographer bless her heart, she had been working all day - we took these pictures on Dec. 23rd at 6pm. Lesson learned, next time schedule for early in the day. That photographer was over it. She was so sick of kids and pictures, she tried her best though and we love these pictures.

Merry Christmas!

On Friday we went to Norris' company Christmas party. Miles was a hit in his Santa outfit. He was a unique Santa in that he was the only Santa who would sit on the people's laps instead of them sitting on his lap. His grandma Big Bird sent him this outfit just in time for the party and he barely fit into it, definitely not wearing this one past this Christmas - ho ho ho!

Just a few pictures for the fans.....

OK folks, now you are caught up on Miles and the rest of the gang since we moved from Tennessee. Miles is growing healthy and strong and is a sweet and lovely blessing to Norris and I. When we see those chubby cheeks and strong kicking legs it makes the price of formula seem worth it!

A boy and his Dad

Miles not only looks like his dad, Grandma Jackson says he acts like him too - little baby things that Norris did Miles now does. The first picture is Miles trying to nurse on Norris. The third one is from today - Miles was fussing like crazy, but give him his Daddy's armpit and a pacifier and he looks like an angel baby. The last picture of Norris changing him is from the first day Norris gave him a bath.

Miles and Pace

Pace is my 12 year old cat. I love Pace. But Pace is not easy to love. She is a vocal and bossy cat who demands that you put a drip in the faucet in the bathtub for her, who thinks she is a dog as she hated my old cat Kitty but plays with Bella every day as though they were both dogs, who Norris has issues with but tolerates for me. Here is Pace with Miles chilling on the bed. She has shown minimal interest in the child, one day she was in the room and he started crying, she jumped off the bed, got to the door and turned around and miaowed at us like she was cussing us then trotted off. However here they are side by side for size reference. Miles is still a couple pounds smaller than her but not for long!

Caption these pictures...

These pictures make me laugh hysterically. What is he thinking? That the bear is going to eat him? Grandma Joseph gave him this bear for Christmas but Miles doesn't seem to appreciate it. Any suggestions of what he might be thinking?

Daddy's first day of work......

Miles' gift to Norris on his first day at work as an attending was one of his rare and gorgeous smiles!

My first time giving Miles a bath.

So up until this day, December 4th, I had gotten away with only giving Miles sponge baths and my mom gave him all his tub baths. But this was the day I gave him his first real bath and he seemed to love it. It was scary putting my little baby in a tub of water this first time but it made it easier that he didn't fuss and squirm. Miles actually loves bathing, and now I try to bathe him every day as it helps to calm him and I'm hoping it will prevent him from getting diaper rash.

First smile with Daddy

Here it is, caught on film or whatever medium this is, Miles' actual first smile with his daddy. It was so gorgeous! And it got Norris and I acting like a fool from then till now trying to get him to smile again. He's smiling more and more now, and I think he's starting to understand that we like his smile because we make such a big deal about it. Hopefully I will be able to get a video of his smile coming over his face, it is so beautiful, like the sun coming over the horizon, it just lights up my whole world.

Joseph and Mary had it easy compared to this!

Ok, maybe the title of this post is a bit over dramatic but just maybe a tiny bit - I mean, from the story they basically had the baby still in the belly and had a donkey to do a lot of the work : )
Our huge travel day dawned cold and crisp and our entourage started our journey off right with a big breakfast and a nice send off at the airport.
Our upset of the day happened early as we promptly proceeded to meet with incompetence at the airline and missed our plane and it was 3 hours before we caught another flight and were airborne.
To cut the airline some slack we did have a lot of stuff with us - that picture with the animals that you see, well ALL that luggage in the picture was ours! One husband, one wife, one month old baby, one grandma, one dog, one cat and, seriously, one prickly plant. That was the live stuff. The non live amounted to 12 pieces of luggage plus a carseat, stroller and playmat. Our biggest blessing that day was that Miles was an absolute angel the entire day. He slept and didn't fuss on the plane even at takeoff and landing.
Bella and Pace were not too happy about the traveling and were even less so when we dropped them off at a boarder while we headed for the extremely utilitarian Temporary Living Facility. After a long and tiring day that took immense planning - Norris actually had a countdown checklist that was named Operation Rattlesnake -at the end of December 1st, 2008 we were in Vegas and ready to start a new chapter!

Miles meets Uncle Alfred and Aunt Joanne

On our way out of town and to Vegas we spent the night at Uncle Alfred and Aunt Joanne's house. Miles got a chance to be cuddled and spoiled by even more doting family members. Norris' family took not only the three of us in but also my Mom, our dog and our cat. Such wonderful and gracious family is a blessing to us and we appreciate them so much.
Uncle Alfred as you can see from the pictures not only held Miles but fed him, burped him, got spit up on and had to change clothes - so he was properly initiated into the Miles fan club!
We had a wonderful night with them that night, Uncle Alfred made us home made chicken pot pie and we ate, took pictures, talked, laughed, reminisced and made some sweet memories. In the morning at extremely early o'clock, probably 4am or so we all got up and after a great breakfast of sausages and eggs Alfred and Joanne drove us and our large load of luggage and livestock to the airport and we were on our way to Vegas!

One Month old November 29th

It's been a long while since posting and Miles has had many adventures in that time. Here are some belated pictures of him on November 29th at one month old. Note the front and side views like a mug shot courtesy of the photographer Norris. And that's Miles later that night sleeping on Daddy's chest as he always does.
